After all, pet accidents and wear and tear from four-legged traffic can really take a toll on your carpet and shorten its life span, though this seems like a fair trade for the health benefits pets bring to their owners. Many 21st-century consumers have added health and environmental effects to their list of flooring priorities, and finding a carpet that meets these concerns is
getting easier. What makes carpet a good choice for floor covering if you have pets? Wall-to-wall carpeting is more comfortable for pets; after all, many pets spend lots of time lying around on the floor, inspiring spasms of envy in their owners. Carpet is also a no slip surface that can be safer for animals, whose footpads tend to slide on tile and hardwood flooring.
Lastly, carpet absorbs sound and can make your home a more peaceful place to live. If you are choosing carpet, you'll want to take the following factors into consideration when making your selection.

Weight – More weight means more fiber, and more fiber is good.

Type of Fiber – There are several types of fiber used in carpets, the most traditional being wool. Wool is
very durable but also very expensive. If you’d like a good natural fiber substitute you can always opt for cotton or sisal but these wear a lot more easily. Among synthetic fibers, nylon is the most common and most
durable, with olefin, polyester and acrylic being good substitutes.

Density – The denser the carpet, the better. Fiber Construction – This can determine how durable a carpet can be.
Carpets with bulked continuous filament (yarn made from only one strand of fiber), twists, heat setting and tufting tend to be more durable, while those made with staple construction can be less as these kinds of carpets tend to shed.

Colors and Patterns – Darker colors tend to make a room feel warmer and cozier while lighter ones brighten a room and make it seem larger, but can show stains more easily. You can use multiple colors and patterns to hide dirt and stains but make sure to pick ones that suit the room and won’t make it look dated.

It is the mission of the Belleville Area Humane Society to find safe and secure homes for the animals in our care. Each director, staff member, and volunteer works diligently to provide a clean and comfortable temporary home for our residents. Each member of our group actively assists in finding these residents their forever home. It is also our mission to do all of this with the least amount of expense without sacrificing quality of life for our residents. Through continuous process improvement and many hours of volunteer assistance, we are proud of the level of care we have achieved. Everything we do is done with the welfare of those in our care in mind.

I'm happy to announce the newest addition to our community partners, the Belleville Area Humane Society (BAHS).

Pet ownership offers the chance to build an unconditional lasting friendship, based on loyalty, trust and happiness. I know this
firsthand as my three dogs are my best friends! Pets also teach us many lessons. We learn patience through training. We learn trust, as we teach them to trust and obey us, and they learn to mind us as their master. Your pet might also teach you about forgiveness, as they are so eager to please us; they easily forgive us for our wrong doings. It has been said that owning a pet is also beneficial to your health; pets help relieve depression, high blood pressure, and generally bring a smile to your face.
Last month A&H Flooring, LLC launched a new campaign to help support BAHS. For every new like or share of the A&H Flooring, LLC Facebook Page, we will donate $1 to the humane society. We have raised over $50 thanks to you! With your continued support, we would like to reach 100 by the 4th of July.
